Perhaps due to the popularity of such distribution, the number of players of this work has increased steadily since mid-June. The number of concurrent players has exceeded 9000 at its peak so far (SteamDB). Although this work succeeded in acquiring many users, the store page was suddenly deleted from Steam around June 30th, making it impossible to purchase. There was no particular explanation from the developer SCKR Games at the time, and users’ posts showing confusion can be seen in communities such as Reddit.
In fact, just before the store page of this work was deleted, artist Aboulicious posted on Twitter that he was working onSketchfabIt was pointed out that the 3D model assets being distributed on the site seem to be included in the game “Only Up!” (Tweet above). The 3D model is a pose of a woman holding a thin, transparent cloth in her hands. On the store page of this work, there was a screenshot showing a similar 3D model of a woman. It seems that they are the same from the long ponytailed hair, but the 3D model distributed by Mr. Aboulicious is prohibited for commercial use.
The developer for this pointed out tweetreply. In addition to apologizing to Mr. Aboulicious, he said that he would confirm why his 3D model was implemented in the game. After that, the screenshot in question was deleted from the store page of this work on Steam, but soon the store page itself was deleted and sales were stopped. It’s unclear if the developers took it down themselves or if Valve took it down after confirming copyright infringement.
As a result, about 6 hours after the store page was deleted from Steam, the store page was released again and sales resumed. There is still no explanation from the developer about this matter, but it is likely that they have completed the removal of assets that have been confirmed to be used without permission from the game.
From the republished store page, in addition to the 3D model of the woman mentioned above, another screenshot has been deleted (upper image). Perhaps the unauthorized use of the assets that are reflected there may have been confirmed.
