MARS – Unmanned spacecraft to explore the planet Mars, Perseverance , find various unique things in his mission. The latest, Mars rover rover it photographed a round, donut-shaped rock that supposedly fell from the sky.
Perseverance took a photo of a large dark rock with a hole in the middle. The interesting stone is surrounded by other stones of a similar hue. Scientists suspect that the stone is not from the planet Mars.
Representatives of the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Institute suggest that the donut rock may have come from fragments or small pieces of a giant meteorite.
The RAW photo from Perseverance was spotted by Stuart Atkinson, in a recent tweet.
This is interesting, because the discovery of a meteorite on the Red Planet is unprecedented. Uniquely, Perseverance has been photographing the meteorite for a long time. Namely, a few weeks after its landing in February 2021. However, it has only just been detected.
The previous version of the Mars rover, Curiosity, has actually found a number of space rocks on Mars since landing in August 2012. Including a metal rock named Cacao in February this year.
The discovery of donut stones by Perseverance is not the first unique discovery made by NASA.
In January 2014, NASA’s Opportunity rover spied a rock that was white on the outside and red on the inside. Scientists call it rock jelly.
