Juventus’s Plan to Save Millions on Salaries: Mohammed Ihattaren’s Future Uncertain

Juventus wants to save 68 million euros on the salaries of superfluous players, the Italian newspaper Calcio Finanza assured on Friday. One of the players who puts considerable pressure on the budget is Mohammed Ihattaren, who earns 1.3 million euros annually in Turin. Ihattaren played less than a minute for Juventus and, despite an ongoing contract until mid-2025, seems to have no future with the superpower.

Juventus wants to put its financial house in order this summer, especially because no income from the Champions League can be expected. The team of coach Massimiliano Allegri will have to do ‘only’ next season with participation in the Conference League. By selling some expensive employees, the Juventus leadership hopes to save almost seventy million euros in terms of salaries and the above-mentioned Italian newspaper knows which names are nominated to be sold.

The absolute top earner is Arthur Melo, who receives an annual transfer of 22 million euros from Juventus. The list held by Calcio Finanza also includes the names of Alex Sandro (eleven million), Weston McKennie (eight million), Luca Pellegrini (six million) and Denis Zakaria (six million). With an annual salary of 1.3 million, Juventus has lost relatively little to Ihattaren, but a departure nevertheless seems imminent. Last season, an amount of 263,000 euros was written off on the reserve player.

Ihattaren is still waiting for his first playing minutes at Juventus, which took him over from PSV in 2021. The only 21-year-old attacking midfielder was rented out to Sampdoria and Ajax in between, but those rental periods turned out not to be fruitful. Despite everything, Ihattaren is still under contract with Juventus and occasionally shares images from the gym, but it seems unlikely that he will still experience his breakthrough at La Vecchia Signora.
