One of the biggest reveals at this year’s Xbox Games Showcase was the new Fable trailer. After a long silence, Playground Games gives us a bit of a title, albeit a deep one a trailer consisting mostly of CGI crap led by comedian Richard Ayoade, who plays a somewhat frustrated giant.
With this in mind, our very own David Caballero recently had the opportunity to speak with the father of Fable, Peter Molyneux, who during his time at the now defunct Lionhead Studios launched three major installments into the fantasy series as well as a series of spin-off projects. off.
As part of our presence at Gamelab Barcelona, we asked him what he thought of the Fable reveal, Molyneux told us: “I think casting Richard [Ayoade] … I think casting him is perfect, making him obsessed with vegetables is very Fable.”
Molyneux continued: “You know, the Fable thing is you have to remember, I remember sitting down when we designed Fable originally and saying, I think we all agreed that Fable would be funny because of what the cast was doing. It’s not funny because it has a lot of jokes. There aren’t really any jokes, but it’s really funny because we let the cast react in ridiculous ways, and that silliness still seems to be in the trailer.”
To close, Molyneux stated: “Like you, I wanted to see more gameplay, but I really love when fireballs get thrown from the heroine. I love the feeling of impact it gives. I think it shows real promise. So you know, my expectations were high.”
Playground Games haven’t announced when we’ll be returning to Albion in their version of Fable, but to hear more about what Molyneux is up to at developer 22cans, you can catch our full interview with the iconic game designer below or see what Molyneux had to say. about Fable at the European Gamelab in Tenerife in December 2022 here.
