„At the press event in 2020 to announce the sponsorship, Eric Seidel, who was still quarterback with the Dresden Monarchs at the time, stood by my side – albeit at a distance of 1.5 meters.”, remembers impaq boss Andreas A. Müller. Just one year later, the Dresden Monarchs won the German Bowl and became German champions for the first time in the club’s history. The sponsors were then allowed to present the championship rings to the players. “Monarchs managing director Jörg Dreßler asked me if I could hand the ring over to quarterback Seidel, after all I knew him from the press conference‘ says Mueller. “Of course I agreed and I was happy that I, as managing director of impaq Preferred Solutions GmbH, was also given such a ring. This ring now adorns my home and the display case is positioned so that I can walk past it every day.“
Müller has also been a member of the business network “Business Network International – BNI” for a number of years. At the end of last year he got the chance to attend their global conference “Global Convention” in Singapore – together with Ronny Siegel from his Dresden BNI chapter “Conrad the Great” and his business partner Markus Franke. During the conversation, it turned out that Franke was also an active player with the Dresden Monarchs. Müller, for his part, talked about meeting Seidel and that he actually didn’t know anything else about him. Franke Müller then agreed to invite Seidel to one of the following BNI meetings so that the two could talk. At the meeting it turned out that Seidel works full-time as a personal trainer. “Until then, I assumed that all Dresden players would make a living from football – but that turned out to be a false assumption”, according to Mueller. And Seidel adds: “We even pay our membership dues out of pocket and play American football because we enjoy it. Only our players from abroad get a certain expense allowance, because in the short season they don’t have time to work here on the side.”
Since the previous fitness trainer, who normally trained the impaq employees as a group every Wednesday morning, was no longer available, Müller spontaneously asked whether Seidel might be interested in taking over the weekly training. “Of course I agreed, because personal training usually only works in the morning and then again in the afternoon – a group lesson during the day always fits in there. And when my work is valued as much as it is at impaq, then it’s all a lot of fun too.”so Seidel. „My employees – male and female – are impressed by Seidel’s approach and are proud to be coached by a Bundesliga professional.” reveals Mueller.
Müller keeps coming back to “his” master ring. The Monarchs, the BNI network, the impaq staff team and of course his family are like the ring. “Not the ring to enslave them, but the ring where everyone hangs together and thus advances each other. My ring of life or my ‘circle of life’ – I’m glad to be a part of it.”concludes Müller.
