In the investigative work after the football derby between Djurgården and AIK at Tele2 Arena on May 28, 2023, several crimes are being investigated and seven people have been brought in for questioning this week. An effort to identify more suspects is ongoing.
– At the moment, we estimate that around 80 people participated in the two violent riots that took place on the respective stands in connection with the match. In addition to these crimes, several crimes against the Public Order Act are also being investigated. It is about, among other things, having entered the football pitch, masking and using pyrotechnics inside the arena, says Matteus Hedin, acting group manager Team Events at the Globen local police area.
On Wednesday 28 June, an operation was carried out where seven suspects, all men, were brought in for questioning. They were served with various suspicions, including suspicion of inciting their respective participation in a violent riot and sabotage against blue light operations.
In connection with the interrogations, four access bans were also issued for a total period of seven and a half years, with individual lengths of up to two years. This means that the four are not allowed to visit stadiums when football matches are organized in the highest divisions as well as international matches or other European cups.
– The investigations continue with intensive identification work and more suspects are expected to be called for questioning in the future, says Matteus Hedin.
