The Ukrainian military says it has struck a Russian headquarters and a fuel and lubricant depot in the occupied port city of Berdyansk in southern Ukraine’s Zaporozhye region. The head of the Russian occupation administration of the Zaporozhye region, Vladimir Rogov, said that Ukrainian forces sent British Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Berdyansk. The Ukrainian military does not say what weapons it used, but Kiev admits it uses Storm Shadow missiles to strike Russian targets deep behind the front lines.
Rogov claims that Russian anti-aircraft forces repulsed the attack on the city and that the explosions in Berdyansk were “the result of air defense work”. His claim could not be verified by The Kyiv Independent. Russian forces say they shot down at least one missile.

Attacks in the occupied territories have become more frequent recently after Ukraine is likely to start its counter-offensive in the Zaporozhye and Donetsk regions.
According to Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyarova, the Ukrainian army last advanced 1,300 meters towards Berdyansk, which Russian soldiers have been occupying since last February.
