The Motorola Defy Satellite Link is a pretty unique accessory that was announced back in February and is now finally available for purchase in the US.
It connects to your iPhone or Android device via Bluetooth and provides a satellite connection. Satellite connectivity in phones has of course become a hot topic of late, thanks to Apple debuting the satellite SOS emergency service with the iPhone 14 family last year.
However, the Motorola Defy Satellite Link doesn’t care what kind of phone we have. Plus, it’s not just for emergencies – there’s a range of packages to choose from, and it even comes with a year’s worth of Essentials messaging – which includes 30 two-way satellite messages per month. Other packages go up to 400 messages per month.
The Defy Satellite Link is IP68 dust and water resistant and MIL-SPEC-810H certified. Withstands immersion in 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes and drops from 2 meters onto steel. Its dimensions are 85x62x11.2 mm and its weight is 70 g. It uses GPS, Glonass, Galileo and Beidou systems. The 600 mAh battery provides up to four full days of standby time.
The Motorola Defy Satellite link is coming to Amazon soon.
