Tayfun Korkut, who played for Fenerbahçe between 1995-2000, made striking statements in an interview with Spain’s AS newspaper.

– Your last coaching post was at Hertha Berlin last year. What do you do now?
Things did not go well at Hertha Berlin. Now I am waiting for a project that appeals to me. By the way, I spend time with my son Efe, who plays in Stuttgart U17 and will be promoted to U19, and also plays for the Turkish national team in his age group.
JESUS MANAGED ARDA GULER WELL
– The Arda Güler phenomenon is talked about a lot. Are you following too?
Certainly. I am a former football player of Fenerbahçe, but I am from Fenerbahçe. Although I live in Germany, I watch all Fenerbahce matches on TV, I follow them closely. In fact, I went to Izmir to watch the cup final. I watched Arda Güler live. He started entering the top 11 in the second half of the season. Coach Jorge Jesus managed to take all the pressure off him. He played very little in the first half of the season, was overshadowed, physically developed and stood out more than at the beginning of the year. I think it would be much better for him to stay in Fenerbahçe for one more year and improve himself, but if he leaves, he should go to a team that has the ball and dominates the game. He is not a player of quick passes, counterattacks. He has to play for a team that has the ball.
– It seems to have attracted the attention of many European giants, including Real Madrid. If he comes, can he play the lead in Real Madrid?

To be honest, considering the players Real Madrid has, it’s not like that yet. You must know how to use time to get somewhere. It wouldn’t be a bad thing for him to come to learn from players like Modric or Kroos, but I don’t think he’s ready to be in the top 11 for such a big team yet.

– What would you recommend to Arda Güler as a coach?
I think for Arda Güler, the best thing for his development would be to stay in Fenerbahçe for 1 more year and always play in the top 11 and gain experience. The Turkish League cannot be compared to the German or Spanish leagues, but it teaches you to play under pressure. This is a good thing because it can strengthen him psychologically. I’m sure Real Madrid also takes this factor into account when signing a player.
– What is the ideal position of ARDA GÜLER on the field?
