Bangkok: A 58-year-old Thai woman got stuck on the moving walkway at Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok. The woman’s leg got stuck on the walkway in Terminal 2.
Bangkok Post reports that the accident happened at 8.27 am in the south corridor between Gate 4 and Gate 5 of Terminal 2. According to reports, he was about to board a flight when he hit a suitcase and fell on the pavement. The left leg was caught in the mechanism at the end of the traveler. The other passengers immediately informed the medical staff of the airport and then she was taken to the Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital in Sai Mai district. The airport officials said that the passenger’s left leg had to be amputated.
In a press conference after the accident, Don Mueang International Airport Director Karun Thanakuljirapat said that suitcase wheels were also found under the walkway belt and the walkways are checked daily. He added that the authorities will bear the medical expenses and compensation of the passenger. Following the accident, the moving walkways at the airport were checked and temporarily disabled. The engineering team will conduct further checks, officials said. Officials said that if the accident was due to negligence, a committee was constituted to investigate the incident with the assurance of strict punitive action.

In 2019, a passenger’s shoe got stuck on the airport’s moving walkway in Terminal 1 and was damaged. The airport later issued a statement saying that the damaged walkway was repaired and reopened within an hour.
