No time? blue News summarizes for you
Alisha Lehmann is currently preparing for the World Cup with the Swiss national team. Nobody blames her for the fact that she voluntarily decided not to take part in the European Championships a year ago. With her 13.6 million followers on Instagram, she is a star on social media and even outshines Roger Federer. With blue Sport speaks her about her social media activities and how she deals with hate comments.Soccer player and social media star. Of course, a fete with the World Cup would fit like a glove. Let’s see if her dream comes true.
Alisha Lehmann played 31 games for Aston Villa in all competitions last season, scoring six goals and providing five more assists. When asked about her contract, which expires at the end of June, she says with a smile: “We’ll see what happens.” Even when asked, she does not allow herself to look at the cards: “I know a little bit, but not yet specifically.”
Your fans are sure to be among the first to know. Because Lehmann is not only a quick as an arrow and a good finisher, she also knows how to market herself like no other. She has 13.6 million followers on Instagram alone. That’s exactly twice as many as Granit Xhaka (3 million), Xherdan Shaqiri (2.8 million) and Yann Sommer (1 million) together – even Roger Federer can’t keep up with his 11.6 million followers. And these fans want to be entertained.
Hate comments bounce off Alisha Lehmann
For Lehmann, it’s a lucrative business: “Of course you take something through social media, that’s obvious. I have a couple of endorsement deals where I work with these brands. But in the end it doesn’t take me that much time to be honest.” Anyone who has so many “friends” naturally also has “enemies” – and is sometimes showered with hateful comments.
How does Lehmann deal with this? “I’ve certainly learned over the years that you don’t even have to read the hate comments.” These are people you don’t even know and who would never say anything like that to you in real life. So that’s not a problem for her. “I don’t focus on that either and I only ever read the good things.”

Does it sometimes bother you that a holiday photo of you attracts more attention than if you score a dream goal, for example? Of course it is “annoying sometimes”, especially when her mother reads something in the newspaper and then sends it to her right away. “But it doesn’t really bother me, you can write whatever you want. At the end of the day, people can believe what they want.” She works the same amount on the pitch as the other men and women at the club. “And in the end, I know what I’m doing and what I’m doing.”
Nati returnee Lehmann: “I’m really happy to be back here”
A lot was also written when Alisha Lehmann voluntarily decided not to take part in the European Championships last year because she felt “not mentally ready”. The fact that she sunbathed days later with her then boyfriend, Aston Villa professional Douglas Luiz, on the beach and pool and diligently posted photos of it, was not only well received.
At the beginning of the year she contacted national team coach Inka Grings and explained everything to her. As a result, she was promptly called up for the friendlies in February and April. A frosty climate did not prevail after their return. It was very well received, says Lehmann and adds: “I’m really happy to be back here and I’m always happy to come back and play for my country. And yes, to make our Switzerland proud.”
Of course, Lehmann would make Switzerland particularly proud if she could post a photo of herself and her teammates lifting the trophy. When asked about this, she says with a broad grin on her face: “A fete with the World Cup is the dream of all of us. I’d say we’ll see about that in about two months.” The final of the Women’s World Cup takes place on August 20th, there is still a long way to go. But dreams are allowed…
