KIEV – President Ukraine , Volodymyr Zelensky depicting political and military leaders Russia as bandits. He also ruled out any peace plans that would turn the war in Ukraine into a frozen conflict.
Zelensky made the remarks in an address to parliament on Ukraine’s Constitution Day, a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin praised his troops for their handling of an uprising by mercenaries led by Wagner Group head Yevgeny Prigozhin.
Stating that Ukraine is on its way to victory, he said Russian leaders must not escape justice for inflaming war in their country.
“The political and military leadership of the Russian Federation must not escape justice due to the fact that they are considered to have immunity, like state leaders,” Zelenskyy told Ukraine’s parliament.
“They are not leaders of the state – they are bandits who took control of the state institutions of Russia and started terrorizing the whole world,” he was quoted as saying Al ArabiaThursday (29/6/2023).
He described the Russian president as suffering from “insanity”.
Zelensky indicated that he remains opposed to any peace plan that freezes the territorial gains made by Russia since it invaded Ukraine.
“Ukraine will not agree to any variant for a frozen conflict,” he stressed.
