The Last Maronite President and the Future of Lebanon: Insights from Rafik Nasrallah, Director of the International Center for Media and Studies

The director of the International Center for Media and Studies, Rafik Nasrallah, considered that “the next president will be the last Maronite president before rotating in the presidency,” and said: “We will protect the Christians with our blood if only one of them remains.”

And Nasrallah continued, in an interview with “OTV”, “I feel that I have been stabbed, and I did not take my right, perhaps from the group that supported it, and specifically from the Shiite duo.”

And he continued, “In 2012, I was subjected to an assassination in Syria, which was revealed for the first time, and there was a fatwa from the Emir of Homs to kill me.”

Nasrallah considered that “all the leaders of the first ranks need training, except for the master,” and added, “I used to enjoy watching Nicolas Fattoush.”

He revealed his willingness to “train Taymour Jumblatt as a matter of friendship, as he is charismatic.”

And he added, “Even if Hezbollah, under the circumstances, entered into a settlement, we will not give up our weapons because we have learned the lesson,” and added, “I rule out the normalization of Syria and Lebanon with Israel.”

Nasrallah said, “We will not have a new May 7 to elect a president.” He continued, “I salute Saad Hariri, who paid the price for his refusal to be drawn into sedition, and history will remember him.”

He concluded, stressing that “there are other forces that refused to elect Franjieh, and will join the duo to elect him with more than 88 votes.”
