The tension in the defendant was clearly noticeable. Shortly before the verdict was announced, he wept. “I’m so sorry. It wasn’t on purpose,” said the 20-year-old in tears. A year ago, he drove a 265 hp car, crowded with seven people, into a group of partygoers who, like him, had been celebrating at an XXL foam party on the grounds of the Bad Doberan racecourse. A 21-year-old mother died as a result of the accident, four people were injured, some seriously. For this, the Rostock district court sentenced the accused to two and a half years in prison.
