SEGOVIA, 28 (EUROPA PRESS)
The Government delegate, Virginia Barcones, chaired this Wednesday the reading of the Gay Pride Day manifesto, which was held at the gates of the Government Sub-delegation in Segovia and where she asked how, in the middle of the century, ” people who hate others just because of their sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or sex characteristics.”
Barcones, accompanied by the Government sub-delegate in Segovia, Marian Rueda; the former subdelegate Lirio Martín and different provincial and municipal political representatives have presented the act of reading the manifesto.
Virginia Barcones has wondered how, in the third millennium, “people still hate others just because of their sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or sexual characteristics” and has also recalled that a few weeks ago there were several arrests and investigation of some acts of homophobia in Segovia, which are still being investigated today.
In this regard, the Government delegate has asserted that only one in ten hate crimes are reported, so there are nine other crimes that the State Security Corps and Forces cannot investigate because they are not known.
After Virginia Barcones, the recently appointed Government sub-delegate in Segovia, Marian Rueda, has intervened, who has begun the reading of the Institutional Declaration on the occasion of National LGTBIQ+ Pride Day.
Rueda recalled that the Council of Ministers, in 2018, agreed to declare June 28 National LGTBI Pride Day, in reference to the ‘Stonewall Revolt’ that took place on this day, in 1969, as a result of a police raid on the establishment of the same name, located in New York and which produced a social uprising.
The reading of the manifesto has been continued by the president of Segoentiende, Marcos Tarilonte. The Segoentiende collective has ended by inviting all citizens to join the events organized on the occasion of this LGTBI Pride Day.
