Paris Saint-Germain, the French football champion, will reveal the identity of its new coach to succeed Christophe Galtier next week, according to a source close to the negotiations, and the name of former Spain and Barcelona coach Luis Enrique is being circulated as the most prominent candidate to succeed his French counterpart Galtier, who led the capital club to victory league title.
The source confirmed that the presentation of the new coach will not take place this week, contrary to what was indicated by several media outlets.
And Saint-Germain and his Spanish football advisor, Luis Campos, informed Galtier at the beginning of June, whose contract was expiring on June 30, 2024, that he would not remain in the club’s corridors for an additional year, after the end of a complex season on the sports level and despite winning the league title for the record eleventh time in its history.
Campos had decided to sign Galtier last summer after they had previously worked together at Lille, but the latter paid dearly for the decline in his team’s results in the second half of the season, in addition to his exit from the final price of the Champions League competition. Negotiations on the terms of Galtier’s departure are still ongoing.
