Saudi Arabia’s Clubs Impacting European Football Market as Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino Moves to Al Ahli

Clubs from Saudi Arabia have started to ravage the European football market this summer. After several famous names who managed to lure them to huge sums of money, even Liverpool player Roberto Firmino could not resist their offer.

The Brazilian striker’s contract with “The Reds” expires at the beginning of July, and according to the local media, he has already agreed on a transfer with the Saudi club Al Ahli.

Turin’s Juventus and some overseas MLS clubs also expressed interest in working with the 31-year-old footballer. In the end, however, the vision of huge earnings won over the player. In recent days, there have been rumors that Roberto Firmino could earn up to 60 million euros during a 3-year contract in the Middle Eastern country.

The Brazilian has played at Anfield for 8 years since his transfer from Hoffenheim for 41 million euros. He previously played for his home club Figueirense and made 55 international appearances for the Brazilian national team.

Saudi Arabia has already managed to attract several important European players to its top league. After Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in the winter, Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté followed in his footsteps to strengthen Al-Ittihad. Rúben Neves and Kalidou Koulibaly found themselves in Al-Hilal.
