The Ukrainian U-21 national team may have violated FIFA regulations by firing on the field in the match of the first round of the youth Euro 2023 against Croatia on June 21 (2-0 victory) Georgy Sudakov and Anatoly Trubin.
The fact is that the players of the U-21 teams are not eligible to take part in the match for the youth team less than 48 hours after the match for the adult team. Trubin and Vanat played for the national team on June 19 in the Euro 2024 qualifier against Malta (1-0 win).
Both matches (both against Croatia and against Malta) started at 19:00 Kyiv time, so exactly 48 hours passed between the start of the two matches. If we count from the moment the match with Malta ended, then the Ukrainian team most likely violated the rules.
The Romanian Football Federation, whose youth team the Ukrainians beat 1-0 in the second round, turned to FIFA with a request to clarify this situation.
Note that for a similar reason, the Romanian national team was banned from using Vladimir Skreciu in the opening match at Euro 2023. But the Georgian defender of Shakhtar Giorgi Gocholeishvili played for the youth team the next day (June 21) after the match for the national team (June 20).
