Today, Monday (26th), the country is bracing for heavy rainfall as the rainy season continues to affect most of the country. A heavy rain advisory has been issued for six cities and counties in Jeollanam-do (Gokseong, Gurye, Hwasun, Boseong, Gwangyang, Suncheon), Jeonbuk (Namwon), and Gyeongnam (Hadong) around Mt. Jiri.
The rain, which initially fell mainly in the southern coast and Jeonnam area, is expected to spread to the entire country, including the metropolitan area, throughout the day. The Korea Meteorological Administration predicts a significant amount of precipitation until tomorrow, with Jeju Island experiencing 50 to 150 mm of rainfall (more than 200 mm in many places). The metropolitan area and mountainous regions of Gangwon, Chungcheong, and the southern regions are expected to receive 30 to 100 mm of rainfall (more than 120 mm in many places), while the east coast of Gangwon will see 10 to 50 mm of rainfall.
The heavy rain in several areas is accompanied by thunder, lightning, and gusts, posing a risk of rain damage. Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution and take necessary precautions.
Despite the heavy rainfall, daytime temperatures will remain within normal yearly levels. The country can expect temperatures ranging from 24 to 27 degrees Celsius, with Seoul, Busan, and Gwangju experiencing 26 degrees, Daegu at 27 degrees, and Daejeon at 25 degrees.
The impact of this congestion front is expected to persist until the weekend, with rain continuing nationwide until the 30th. In the southern region and Jeju Island, rainfall is expected to persist until Saturday, the 1st of next month.
