Cupra Ateca Introduces New Engine Options to Cater to a Wider Range of Customers
The Cupra Ateca, the first-ever model from the independent Cupra brand, has made a strong impact on the market with its powerful 300 horsepower turbo petrol engine. However, the automaker is now expanding its range of engines to cater to a wider range of customers.
“The Cupra Ateca model was key for the brand. It has built its growth on it and we are now focused on developing this car to maximize the offering and meet the needs of our customers,” said Kai Vogler, Cupra’s vice president of sales and marketing.
In the configurator of the Ateca model, customers will now find two new gasoline engines, both of which are less powerful than the existing 300 horsepower engine. The first option is the 2.0 TSI unit with a capacity of 190 horsepower, which comes with 4Drive all-wheel drive as standard. This engine provides a balanced performance for those who want a sporty SUV without excessive power.
For less demanding customers who appreciate the Cupra Ateca’s imaginative appearance but do not require the full power of the engine, there is the 1.5 TSI engine with 150 horsepower and front-wheel drive. Both engine variants are paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, ensuring smooth shifting and optimal power transfer to the wheels.
Along with the new engines, the Cupra Ateca also introduces some additional features. The rear diffuser has been slightly modified, and customers can now choose from improved bucket seats and a new sports steering wheel with innovative controls. The interior has also seen some changes, including new door panels and copper stitching.
These new engine options and interior features will be available from June this year, allowing customers to personalize their Cupra Ateca according to their preferences and needs.
