City of Lille and Associated Municipalities Receive “100% EAC” Label for Artistic and Cultural Education
Since 2005, the City of Lille and its associated municipalities of Lomme and Hellemmes have been dedicated to promoting artistic and cultural education for primary school students as part of their Global Educational Project (PEG). This commitment has now been recognized with the prestigious “100% EAC” label.
The Artistic plans are at the forefront of this policy, with approximately thirty municipal stakeholders deploying hundreds of projects each year in schools in Lille, Lomme, and Hellemmoise. These projects are developed in collaboration with teachers and their educational projects. The Residencies Artists Meeting School Territory (ARTS) program enriches these projects by bringing in artists in residence with diverse profiles, including designers, architects, musicians, actors, and visual artists. Additionally, the cultural classes system allows students to immerse themselves in a cultural place for a week, exploring the trades and functioning of an opera or a museum, meeting artists, and trying their hand at artistic practice.
One of the highlights of this commitment is the annual exhibition called “Mom’art,” which showcases hundreds of drawings, paintings, sculptures, and other artistic creations produced by students from Lille. These artworks are inspired by the theme of Lille 3000 and demonstrate the extraordinary creativity nurtured in the establishments of the three municipalities during school and extracurricular time.
Furthermore, all municipal cultural facilities are dedicated to providing a cultural offer accessible to the widest audience. They develop inclusive and participatory projects and create mediations tailored to different audiences, ensuring that everyone can engage with the arts.
Receiving the “100% EAC” label is a testament to the City of Lille and its associated municipalities’ strong commitment to artistic and cultural education for all. The label aims to recognize communities that strive to achieve an EAC for 100% of young people in their territory. It encourages partnership commitment at the territorial level and promotes efficient pooling of resources. The label is granted for a renewable period of five years.
With this recognition, the City of Lille and its associated municipalities will continue to enhance their existing offer and develop a common strategy for artistic and cultural education in Lille, Lomme, and Hellemmes. This commitment will benefit young people and the entire community throughout their lives.
The deliberation n°23/342 “Artistic and cultural education – application for the 100% EAC labeling” of the Municipal Council of 23/06/23 provides further details on this significant achievement.
