Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party Board of Trustees, Desmond J Mahesa, has passed away after receiving treatment in the hospital. The news of his death has shocked and saddened many, as he was known for his dedication and hard work within the party. Desmond’s body will be laid to rest today in Karawang.
“It is planned that the deceased will be buried after midday prayers at the Al-Azhar Cemetery Complex, West Karawang,” said Secretary General Gerindra Ahmad Muzani at the funeral home. The funeral procession will take place at Jalan Saco 1 Number 1, RT1/RW4, Ragunan, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.
Desmond passed away early in the morning on Saturday (24/6) at Mayapada Hospital. Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, the Gerindra Party Daily Chairperson, remembers Desmond as a tough but kind-hearted person. “Even though he appeared tough, he had a good heart. He was a tough fighter,” Dasco said.
Desmond’s dedication to the party was unwavering. He continued to work hard as the deputy chairman of the Gerindra Party Board of Trustees and as the chairman of Gerindra for Banten province. He never tired of promoting and raising awareness of Gerindra in Banten.
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Mahfud Md, also paid tribute to Desmond. He remembered him as someone who was firm and unafraid to criticize. “Inna lillah wa inna ilaihi raji’un. May Mas Desmond receive His maghfirah and heaven,” Mahfud Md expressed via his Twitter account.
Desmond was known as a member of the DPR who fearlessly criticized anyone, including rulers, businessmen, and fellow political parties. His passing is a great loss, and he will be remembered for his dedication and compassion.
