HBO Programs Make a Comeback on French Audiovisual Group’s Platforms

French audiovisual group announces return of HBO programs to its platforms

The French audiovisual group has just announced the return of HBO programs to its platforms. The parent company behind the series Succession and Game of Thrones had left the OCS catalog (Orange subsidiary acquired by Canal+) at the end of 2022.

From June 23, the excellent series stamped HBO will reappear after having enjoyed the heyday of the hexagonal platform OCS, now bought by the Canal+ group. “This additional partnership allows us to strengthen our positioning as an aggregator,” explained the general manager of Canal+ Switzerland, Brice Daumin, in the press release.

Inaccessible since the end of 2022, HBO programs had started a race between different platforms and channels to recover the broadcasting rights in our part of the country and in France. In Switzerland, the RTS was able to offer retransmissions of the American channel’s latest creations, with The Last of Us, The Idol, or Love and Death. In France, Prime Video had haggled over a Warner pass (in exchange for a financial extension) to view the latest creations from the American channel.

But this race is now over and Canal+ wins. As part of this collaboration between the two entities, the titles of HBO and MaxOriginals will be broadcast directly on the Canal+ channel, as well as on the MyCanal streaming platform, adds the press release.

If the novelties are about to surge (and feed your insomnia), it is undoubtedly the abundant catalog of older series. THE Sopranos, Sex and the City, Band of Brothers, and the eternal The Wire. The best news of your day. (please)
