Queen Camilla’s Outfit at Ascot and Meghan’s Wedding: A Comparison

Queen Camilla attended Ascot on Wednesday in a previously seen outfit. She was dressed in a soft pink coat dress by the fashion house “Anna Valentine”, in which she attended the wedding of her adopted son Prince Harry and his bride Meghan Markle in Windsor in May 2018.

The 75-year-old Queen arrived at Ascot with her husband, King Charles III, in a horse-drawn carriage. She had chosen the same soft pink dress, accessorized with a three-row pearl necklace with a large pink center jewel, just like she did at the Duke of Sussex’s wedding.

However, this time she has chosen a different headdress and earrings. Instead of a soft pink hat decorated with feathers, the queen this time put on a beige wide brim made by the brand “Philip Treacy”. At Harry and Meghan’s wedding, guests were asked to dress in pastel colors.

Meghan’s mother, Dorie Ragland, arrived at the wedding in a soft mint green dress with a white floral print. Catherine Middleton wore a light yellow coat dress, while Charles wore a light gray Anderson & Sheppard suit that has been in his wardrobe since 1984. Interestingly, it coincides with the year his youngest son Prince Harry was born.

Celebrity magazine “People” writes that British “Vogue” editor Edward Enninful once asked the king (then the Prince of Wales) if he thought about wearing something new to the royal wedding. The monarch had replied that he had considered it but still wanted the suit.

Charles has justified his desire by the fact that this suit can be worn only a couple of times a year, only in summer, so he would like to wear it to his youngest son’s wedding as well. The king added – if it no longer suits him, then he will have to sew something new. But he didn’t think it would matter much if the suit was brand new: “I’m not sure how different it might be at my age,” commented the king.

The Royal Horse Races at Ascot are held over five days. On the first day, Queen Camilla arrived in a custom-made Dior costume, complete with a cream hat and pearl earrings. Interestingly, the choice to wear something from the prestigious French fashion house followed a day after Dior denied the allegations of its collaboration with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

Let us remind you that Catherine of Wales, Princess of Wales, liked to wear one outfit repeatedly, for which the people especially praise her. The fact that Camilla has already worn a soft pink dress was also praised by the Queen on the official Twitter account of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
