He had not come to the regiment since 2016, when he accepted the sponsorship, but he follows the news of the latter via social networks, and thanks to regular correspondence with the corps commander. This Thursday, June 22 in the morning, the host Stéphane Bern, sponsor of the 40th regiment of Transmissions of Thionville, on his way to the ceremonies of the National Day of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, took the time to stop at “40” to greet Colonel Kaufmann’s men. He began his day with the review of the troops, the visit of the 3rd company, the presentation of equipment, missions, then complied willingly with photo shoots and selfies.

Why is it important to come and meet the soldiers of the 40th RT?
“Because I am its godfather! I’m not a godfather to accept one more honor. This regiment is part of my life and I make sure that everything goes well here. Transmission, for me, is on the airwaves, on TV or on the radio. But it is also the duty to pass on values to the younger generations, such as commitment and a sense of homeland. And then a regiment is also part of our heritage and our history. The 40th RT was born in 69 in Neustadt and its motto is Who looks at me bows. This is what I do in front of his talent in external operations! »
What touches you here?
“It’s not every day that I review troops [rires] ! I am sensitive to the fact of seeing how a regiment lives. I don’t fake things… I’ll be back, especially since I like to find the Lorraine dear to my heart. »
