Latest Update on Apple’s iPhone SE 4 Release Date and 5G Modem Development

Apple Reportedly Cancels iPhone SE 4 for Next Year

Jakarta – The iPhone SE 4, one of Apple’s most anticipated products alongside the iPhone 15 series, may not be launching anytime soon. Analysts from Barclay Blayne Curtis and Tom O’Malley have revealed that Apple is unlikely to release the iPhone SE 4 in 2024. This information was obtained after discussions with several companies that are Apple’s supply chain partners.

In their research note, the analysts stated that Apple’s decision not to release the iPhone SE 4 next year indicates that the 5G modem they were developing would not be ready in the near future. Previous rumors suggested that the iPhone SE 4 would be the first iPhone to use a custom 5G modem made by Apple. However, it is now believed that this 5G modem will only be produced in early 2025, according to a report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

If these rumors are true, then the iPhone 16, which is set to be released towards the end of 2024, is predicted to come without Apple’s own 5G modem. The technology giant will have to continue relying on Qualcomm as a modem supplier for Apple. Apple has been planning to develop its own modem since 2018 to reduce dependence on other companies. In 2019, they acquired most of Intel’s mobile modem business.

Rumors about the iPhone SE 4 have been circulating since last year. This phone is predicted to have the same design as the standard edition of the iPhone 14, meaning it will feature a 6.1-inch OLED screen and Face ID. Apple last released the iPhone SE in March 2022, which came with a 4.7-inch LCD screen, Touch ID, 5G, a 12 MP camera, and the A15 Bionic chip.

How will the delay in the release of the iPhone SE 4 impact Apple’s reliance on Qualcomm as its modem supplier

Apple Reportedly Scraps Plans for iPhone SE 4 in 2024

Good news for Apple fans eagerly awaiting the iPhone SE 4 – it seems the highly anticipated release won’t be happening anytime soon. According to analysts from Barclay Blayne Curtis and Tom O’Malley, who have been in talks with Apple’s supply chain partners, the iPhone SE 4 is unlikely to hit the market in 2024.

So why the delay? It seems Apple’s plan to develop its own 5G modem is a key factor. Previous rumors suggested that the iPhone SE 4 would be the first to feature Apple’s custom 5G modem. However, sources now indicate that this modem won’t be ready until early 2025, as noted by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

If these reports are accurate, it means that the upcoming iPhone 16, set to launch in late 2024, will not have Apple’s own 5G modem either. This means Apple will have to continue relying on Qualcomm as its modem supplier. It’s worth noting that Apple had been working on developing its own modem since 2018 in order to reduce reliance on other companies. In fact, they acquired a major portion of Intel’s mobile modem business in 2019.

Rumors about the iPhone SE 4 have been circulating for some time. The phone is expected to share a similar design to the standard edition of the iPhone 14, boasting a 6.1-inch OLED screen and Face ID. The most recent iPhone SE model was released in March 2022 and featured a 4.7-inch LCD screen, Touch ID, 5G capability, a 12 MP camera, and the impressive A15 Bionic chip.

While Apple fans may be disappointed by the delay, it’s important to note that a delayed release often leads to a more refined and enhanced product. So, while we may have to wait a bit longer for the iPhone SE 4, it’s safe to assume that Apple has something special in store for us when it finally does hit the market.
