Thionville Association Expands Social Action and Increases Land Holding: Accommodation, Health, and Support Focus

Athens, a social action association in Thionville, is making significant strides in its efforts to support vulnerable individuals in the community. The association recently held its general meeting, where three key points emerged focusing on accommodation, health, and support.

One major development for Athens is the relocation of its headquarters from the city center of Thionville to the road to Metz. The association now occupies a space on Route de Metz, allowing for closer proximity between the teams and management. This move consolidates the majority of Athens’ activities in one location, spanning from number 46 to 80 along the road, covering nearly 200 meters. Robert Malgras, the president of Athens, explains that this move not only brings the teams closer to management but also allows for better coordination and communication.

However, Athens’ involvement in the community goes beyond just occupying a building. The association has invested in the area by acquiring several properties. Athens owns the family hostel, which provides accommodation for women victims of violence, as well as the social hotel and its annex, totaling 34 places. Additionally, the association has renovated a building to house its management, located opposite the Gassion area. Other neighboring buildings, including the pole for asylum seekers, are rented to Moselis. This strategic ownership and rental of properties demonstrate Athens’ commitment to providing essential services and support to those in need.

In line with its mission to support vulnerable individuals, Athens has also expanded its land holdings. The association purchased 10 ares of fallow land from the municipality adjacent to the family lodging. The plan is to construct a small building on this land to accommodate other women victims of violence, particularly those with very young children. Currently, these individuals are housed in apartments in neighboring towns that Athens rents. The project aims to provide accessibility for people with reduced mobility and is estimated to cost over two million euros. This acquisition of land not only serves a social purpose but also optimizes real estate costs for Athens.

Another significant project undertaken by Athens is the management of a unique care system in Lorraine. The association has established day health care beds on rue des Écluses, in the Couronné area of Thionville, near the station. This facility provides a comprehensive range of services for homeless individuals, including medical care, support, and accommodation. Athens has hired a nurse for this facility, but a doctor and a social worker are still needed to complete the team. The association already manages seven health care beds for longer stays, such as post-operative care.

Overall, Athens’ dedication to social action and support for vulnerable individuals is evident in its recent developments. The relocation of its headquarters, acquisition of properties, and expansion of services demonstrate the association’s commitment to improving the lives of those in need in Thionville. With its continued efforts, Athens is making a positive impact on the community and providing essential support to the most vulnerable individuals.

In terms of healthcare, Athens has made significant progress in providing assistance to vulnerable individuals. The association now operates a medical center that offers medical and psychological support to those in need. This center, located on Route de Metz, provides essential healthcare services to the community. Athens understands the importance of accessible healthcare and aims to continue improving and expanding its medical services.

Lastly, Athens is focused on offering extensive support to vulnerable individuals. The association provides a range of services, including social support, counseling, and job assistance. With their new headquarters, Athens is now able to better coordinate and streamline these support services, ensuring that individuals receive the necessary help and resources.

Overall, Athens’ general meeting highlighted the significant strides the association has made in supporting vulnerable individuals in Thionville. From their headquarters relocation to their investment in accommodation and healthcare, Athens is dedicated to making a difference in the community. By providing a range of support services, the association is actively working towards improving the lives of those in need.
