90% are Japanese cars

According to recent data, the market for car sales in Vietnam has been slow, with many popular car models only selling a few dozen units in the first five months of 2023. In fact, out of the 10 slowest-selling car models during this period, 90% of them are Japanese cars.

The slowest-selling car model in the market from January to May 2023 is the Suzuki Ciaz, with only 14 units sold. This B-segment sedan has been struggling to attract buyers, with an average of only 3 cars sold per month. Following closely behind is the Honda Accord, a sedan in the higher segment, which has only sold 26 cars despite multiple discount programs.

The Toyota Yaris, a B-size hatchback, ranks third on the list with 56 vehicles sold. This model used to be popular in Vietnam, but the market for hatchbacks in the B-segment has been shrinking due to the increasing popularity of crossovers.

The Isuzu Mu-X, a 7-seater SUV, takes the fourth spot with 70 cars sold. Despite its competitive pricing, the design and brand of the Mu-X have not resonated well with Vietnamese customers.

Suzuki Swift, a compact car suitable for city driving, has sold 171 vehicles in the first five months of the year. However, its sales have been hindered by its higher price compared to other sedans in the B-segment.

Another Suzuki model, the Ertiga, has sold 212 units. This 7-seat MPV model faces tough competition from other affordable 7-seat models in the market.

Lastly, the Isuzu D-max, which is the top-selling pickup model in Thailand, has struggled to gain traction in Vietnam.

Overall, the slow sales of these popular car models reflect the current market conditions in Vietnam. With the majority of the slowest-selling cars being Japanese, it raises questions about the preferences and demands of Vietnamese car buyers.Title: 10 Slowest Selling Popular Cars from the Beginning of 2023: 90% are Japanese Cars

According to a recent study, the automotive market has experienced a slowdown, resulting in several car models having extremely low sales figures in the first five months of 2023. Among the ten slowest-selling popular cars during this period, a staggering 90% of them are Japanese cars.

Topping the list of the slowest-selling cars is the Suzuki Ciaz, with only 14 units sold from January 1, 2023, to the end of May 2023. This B-segment sedan has struggled to attract buyers, averaging just three sales per month. Despite its compact design and durability, the Suzuki Ciaz has failed to gain traction in the market.

In second place is the Honda Accord, a sedan in the higher segment. Despite numerous discount programs of over 100 million VND, the model has only managed to sell 26 cars. The Honda Accord’s sales have not seen significant improvement, indicating a challenging market environment.

The Toyota Yaris, a B-size hatchback, secured the third position on the list with 56 vehicles sold in the first five months of the year. While the Yaris continues to update its design and features, the hatchback market in the B-segment has been shrinking due to the rising popularity of crossovers.

The Isuzu Mu-X, a 7-seater SUV, ranked fourth on the list with 70 units sold in the Vietnamese market by the end of May 2023. Despite its competitive pricing, the Mu-X has struggled to resonate with Vietnamese customers, possibly due to design and brand preferences. Imported from Thailand, the Isuzu Mu-X is available in four versions, all priced at 900 million VND.

Suzuki Swift, a compact city car, secured the next position with 171 vehicles sold after five months. While the Swift appeals to the female customer group with its compact design, it faces tough competition from the Toyota Yaris and Mazda 2 hatchbacks in the B-segment. However, the Swift’s sales have remained stagnant due to its higher price compared to many high-class sedans in the market.

Another Suzuki model, the Ertiga, made the list with 212 units sold. This 7-seat MPV is imported from Indonesia and competes with other affordable 7-seat models like the Mitsubishi Xpander and Toyota Veloz Cross. Despite launching a hybrid version in late 2022 to enhance competitiveness
