Last week, Cardano (ADA) founder Charles Hoskinson was discredited with a lucrative part-time job. He rents out his private jet to celebrities. But what he is currently doing is of a completely different nature. Hoskinson is part of an expedition in the Pacific Ocean that searches for alien material on the sea floor.
From crypto to aliens
The expedition, led by Harvard astronomer Avi Loeb, is searching for an unidentified flying object that crashed into the sea off the coast of Papua New Guinea. Earlier in March, Hoskinson invested $1.5 million in the Galileo Project, of which the expedition is a part.
On June 16, Hoskinson confirmed that he was indeed in the Pacific with the expedition. Remarkably, the United States Department of Defense indicates that the object that crashed into the sea indeed from space comes. What exactly the object is is not clear, and that is exactly what the expedition wants to get to the bottom of.
Via Twitter Hoskinson indicated on Friday that the team has already found something striking. A metal wire with special properties. Astronomer Loeb says the following about it.
“Fortunately, we have already found something strange: a wire of magnesium and platinum with a pattern that differs from normal commercial products.”
For the time being, it is too early to say anything about the origin of the metal wire. Perhaps the expedition will find more in the coming days. You can follow the developments on the blog page from Loeb.
Mammoths?
This is not the first time that Hoskinson has been involved in strange projects. In March last year, he invested in a company called Colossal. This company tries to bring extinct animal species, including the mammoth, to life with DNA research and groundbreaking technologies.
Hoskinson is a controversial figure in the crypto industry. On Sunday he criticized the media for the alleged “bullshit” it fed the American people during the COVID pandemic. Hoskinson argues that the truth is now on the table: COVID came from a lab. He also asks what we as humanity can learn from this. In the tweet, Hoskinson references a New York Post article that discusses the likelihood of COVID-19 originating from a lab in Wuhan, China.
