Shooting Incident in Grant County
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a shooting in a camping area near the small town of George, located 149 miles (239 kilometers) east of Seattle. The incident occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. Following the report, law enforcement officers swiftly pursued the suspect and successfully apprehended them.
Cancellation of Beyond Wonderland Festival
Regrettably, the electronic music festival, Beyond Wonderland, announced the cancellation of its Sunday events at the George Theater. The festival organizers conveyed this information through their social media channels.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that the shootings transpired in the adjacent campgrounds. The organizers of the event had designated this area as an “extra camping area.”
According to Kyle Foreman, the public information officer for the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the shooter was among the three individuals who sustained injuries during the incident. This information was reported by KREM-TV.
Tragic Shooting in Chicago Suburb
In a separate incident, authorities in the United States reported that a gathering in a suburban parking lot in Chicago resulted in at least 20 fatalities due to gun violence. The incident occurred in Willowbrook, approximately 20 miles (32.1 kilometers) southwest of Chicago.
Television news footage depicted a mall parking lot strewn with debris and cordoned off with police tape. The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office informed local television stations present at the scene that one person was killed, while at least 19 others sustained injuries.
Marquisia Avery, a witness to the incident, shared with WLS-TV that the gathering was intended to be a Juneteenth celebration. She recounted the terrifying moment when gunfire erupted, prompting everyone to seek cover until the shooting ceased.
Craig Lutsey, another witness, described the chaotic scene, stating, “Everyone ran, and it was a huge mess.”
