People’s Power Rep. Bo Seung-hee Hwang denied the allegation, saying, “It is the one-sided claim of my ex-husband who wants to take revenge on me” in relation to the’suspicion of receiving illegal political funds’.
Rep. Hwangbo revealed this today (15th) by posting on his SNS a picture of himself bleeding, a wound on his arm that appears to have been beaten, and torn clothes.
“I am a victim of domestic violence,” he said. “My ex-husband started with an argument a few months after the birth of my second daughter, swept the table, and strangled me. From the time I became a member of the National Assembly and summoned the courage to divorce, me and my parents, The violence, abusive language, and threats against my younger siblings have gotten worse.”
He said, “I reported me to the party in 5 days after taking care of everything I needed through property division, etc.” They are taking revenge,” he said.
The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency’s Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Investigation Unit received and is investigating a complaint filed by a civic group alleging that Rep. Bo Hwang received money and other valuables from local district and city council members ahead of local elections last year.
The police recently called Rep. Hwangbo’s ex-husband as a reference and investigated, and he is known to have taken pictures of a list that seems to have recorded the names and amounts of those who gave money to Rep. Hwangbo at the time of the election and submitted it to the police.
In the police investigation, Hwangbo’s ex-husband said, “After the election, I took a picture because there was cash and a list at home. It is reported that he made a statement to the effect that the original has been destroyed.
The police are also looking into the suspicion that Hwangbo received tens of millions of won in cash, a credit card, and an apartment from Mr. A, the chairman of a real estate developer known for internal combustion.
On this day, the Chosun Ilbo reported the suspicion that Mr. A rode a government car to and from the assembly hall together after the election of Hwang Bo, or used a government car and an attendant in the office for private purposes.
Meanwhile, on the 13th, the People’s Power Party Affairs Audit Committee decided to conduct a party affairs audit regarding suspicions such as receiving illegal political funds by Rep. Seung-hee Hwang.
