An unextinguished fireplace caused a forest fire above Balm near Günsberg on Wednesday morning. However, the emergency services were able to extinguish the fire in the forest floor. Due to the persistent drought, there is now a significant risk of forest fires.
The Solothurn cantonal police were informed of a possible forest fire near Balm near Günsberg on Wednesday morning. The Günsberg and Hubersdorf-Flumenthal fire brigades were deployed to extinguish the fire.
According to initial assessments, the forest floor started to burn due to an unextinguished fire and spread to about 20 square meters before the emergency services were able to bring the fire under control. The fire site was above the Balm ruins in impassable terrain near a fireplace.
