Ginette Reno: The Great Lady of Quebec Song Opens Up About Health Challenges and Future Plans

As part of the promotional tour for his autobiography Ginette and his album It’s all me (available in Jean Coutu in Quebec), we had the pleasure of meeting Ginette Reno, great lady of Quebec song who continues, again and again, to rally young and old thanks to her talent.

At the beginning of the year, the singer experienced health problems which were not without worrying her very many followers. She also had to undergo two major operations, followed by a period of compulsory rest..

More recently, she had to reluctantly cancel her presence at the Outaouais Film Festivalto take care of her.

Faced with our concerns about her health, she first tells us this: I walk with a cane, I do my physio, my water aerobics, but there are days when I have to take medication. I have a lot of pain, way too much pain. »

In doing so, it is easy to wonder if we will ever be able to see this unique artist again on stage, a question we asked her during our meeting. Admittedly, the priority is her health, but she responds in these terms, being optimistic.

« Not for now. But I want to do it. My desire is intense. My intentions are pure. I have already prepared the show, which is called Ginette chante Reno. I prepared all my songs, what am I going to say, what am I going to do, who I want to work with. »

She continues: “ I am measuring my intensity, my energy. I’m no longer able to sing in the evening, so I have to do shows in the afternoon. Tom Jones sings seated throughout. I can still get up a little bit, if I can stand somewhere. I no longer have balance, and yet I always had. I want to do a theatrical concert. In the sense that I want to have a living room, me on a chair, my musicians around. I would like to have a giant screen, to tell things. »

We wish him that this dream can come true soon.

The singer also reveals another of her wishes: to give conferences. ” I really like doing that, and I’m good, I have talent. […] I learned a lot of things and I would like to give it away. »

Note that in the same interview, Madame Reno admitted that she may have made a mistake in the way she chose to distribute her autobiography and her most recent album.
