Amsterdam is ready to start training Ukrainian pilots on US-style F-16 fighters in a few months.

The relevant information was announced by the head of the Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands, Kaisa Ollongren, in her Twitter account.

According to her, at present, the Dutch side, together with the allies, is working on the creation of a training center for the training of Ukrainian pilots, as well as on strengthening the air defense of Ukraine.

On site Defense Department of the Netherlands specifies that the training center will be located in one of the Eastern European countries. Amsterdam continues to consult with the US, Denmark, UK, Belgium and Luxembourg.

At the first stage, a limited number of Ukrainian pilots will be involved in the training, but in the future the composition of the group of students may be expanded.

Earlier, the former commander of the Polish Ground Forces, Waldemar Skrzypczak, allowed the first F-16 fighters to appear in Ukraine in two to three months. According to him, a decision must now be made on which countries will provide their aircraft to Kyiv.

Meanwhile, the media write that Ukraine can get from partners not only the F-16. The West is also discussing the possibility of transferring F-18 Hornet fighter-bombers to the Ukrainian army.
