Contacted this Wednesday, June 14, 2023, the public prosecutor, Frédéric Chevallier, confirmed our information on the placement in police custody of a couple in their fifties, domiciled in Courville-sur-Eure.
The spouses, presumed innocent, are suspected of being the authors of a suspicious envelope addressed to the departmental directorate of public finances (DDFIP), located place de la République in Chartres. The letter was received on Wednesday.

Inside, small pieces of questionable crystals and documents including a tax notice from the couple from Courville-sur-Eure. An element that led to their arrest by the police of the departmental security. The spouses could be prosecuted for aggravated violence, death threats against a person in charge of a public service mission and disclosing false information leading to the belief of a disaster and likely to provoke the unnecessary intervention of the emergency services.
Because this Wednesday, around 9 a.m., nearly 110 DDFIP employees were evacuated. And four people who had contact with the courier were placed in solitary confinement. A 30-year-old woman, taken ill, was taken care of by the firefighters.

The discovery of this envelope with suspicious content required the establishment of a security perimeter. The prefecture has activated significant resources to carry out rescue and control operations, including firefighters from the mobile chemical intervention cell (CMIC). Narcotics Squad officers performed tests on the crystals. They turned out negative. It would seem that it is ultimately a matter of grains of salt.
Experts from the scientific police participated in the investigations, in particular to search for DNA traces and fingerprints on this envelope and its documents. Elements that will be integrated into the legal proceedings.
