US Announces Additional Armored Fighting Vehicle Bradley for Ukraine as Part of $325 Million Military Aid Package

Pentagon or the Department of Defence United States of America (USA) announced it would ship an additional supply of 15 armored fighting vehicle Bradley for Ukraine. The supplies are part of the latest $325 million in military aid that Washington will provide to Kiev.

The announcement came on Tuesday (13/6) local time, days after reports said Ukraine lost a large number of US-supplied armored vehicles when it launched a counterattack against Russian troops occupying its territory.

As reported CNN and ReutersWednesday (14/6/2023), a US-made Bradley combat vehicle that moves on chains instead of wheels, can accommodate about 10 soldiers and is used to transport military personnel to the battlefield while providing supporting fire.

The Bradley armored vehicles are part of a $325 million military aid package, which also includes 10 Stryker armored personnel carriers, ammunition for the HIMARS surface-to-air missile system and the HIMARS rocket system, as well as anti-aircraft systems. Shoulder Stinger and Javelin anti-armor system.

155 mm and 105 mm artillery shells, as well as more than 22 million rounds for small arms are also included in the latest US military aid package to Ukraine.

“The United States and our allies and partners will stand by Ukraine, for as long as may be necessary,” US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement.

The latest US military aid package is the 40th aid provided to Ukraine using the Presidential Drawdown Authority, which allows the president to transfer weapons and services from US reserve supplies without congressional approval in an emergency.

A spokesman for the US State Department, as quoted by Reuters, said the US had provided military assistance with a total value of around US $ 40 billion (Rp. 595.5 trillion) to Ukraine since the Russian invasion was launched on February 24, 2022.
