Ukraine. Stoltenberg, ‘the Ukrainian counter-offensive is making a difference’

Geopolitical News

NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg communicated today in a meeting with Joe Biden that “the Ukrainian counter-offensive is making a difference on the battlefield”. He then stressed that “the more territory the Ukrainians manage to free up, the greater their weight in the negotiations will be”, while admitting that he is still busy assessing the results with certainty.
Certainly the Ukrainians have regained control of some localities in Donbass including Lobkove, Levadne, Novodarivka, Neskuchne, Storozheve, Makarivka and Blagodatne, but the fighting is still going on. The Russian side admitted the loss of Makarovka, while stating that the 37th Brigade of the 5th Army is attempting to recapture the lost positions. For the Kremlin, the Ukrainian counter-offensive is ineffective.
Heavy fighting is underway everywhere, and in the afternoon the Wall Street Journal reported that the US could give Ukraine depleted uranium shells to use with the Abrams tanks it is delivering. An eventuality that led Russian President Vladimir Putin to say that “in that case we reserve the right to use them in Ukraine too”.
