Cormac McCarthy died of natural causes at his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, according to publisher Alfred A. Knopf. He was 89 years old. The American writer released two more novels last year: “Stella Maris” and “The passenger”.
McCarthy wrote a total of 12 novels, but did not enjoy success until late in life. In 2005 he wrote “No Country for Old Men”, a novel that was made into a movie in 2007 by brothers Joel and Ethan Coen. The movie won 4 Oscars. “All the pretty horses” (1992) was also successfully filmed.
Still in 2007, McCarthy won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize with the post-apocalyptic book “The Road”, which was also made into a movie in 2010.” he did have a conversation with Oprah Winfrey.
