ASB Meeting Center “Luise” in Dresden offers Voluntary German Courses for Seniors and Slow Learners.

Dresden. The ASB meeting center “Luise” offers voluntary German courses especially for seniors and for everyone who needs more time to learn the language – without any pressure to perform or certificates.

How can you make connections in the district if you don’t speak German? For Hanna Wagner, head of the ASB meeting center “Luise” in Löbtau, this question was the trigger for a new offer. In conversations with refugee families from Ukraine, she found that the German courses offered are often tailored to younger people who are looking for a job or an educational opportunity. The pace of learning is usually too fast for seniors. The ASB meeting center »Luise« (Braunsdorfer Str. 13) offers two one-hour German courses every Thursday especially for them and for anyone who needs more time to learn the German language. They take place at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., are carried out by volunteers and do not aim for certificates.

“It’s harder for older people to learn a new language,” says Hanna Wagner. »But they also want to go shopping, organize their everyday life and make friends in the district. We have many offers – from creative courses to seated yoga to skat or cozy get-togethers over coffee. But those who don’t understand German usually don’t dare to come here.«

Anyone can take part – regardless of age and country of origin. Course instructor Reinhard Moog supports newcomers as well as advanced learners and wants everyone to progress at their own pace. Two euros per hour for the use of the room will be charged for participation. Interested parties can contact us by phone (0351 / 4241734) or simply drop by.
