Son Heung-min underwent surgery for groin pain and is doubtful for Korea’s friendly matches against Peru and El Salvador
The captain of the South Korean team, Son Heung-min, is a doubt for the friendly matches that his team faces this Friday against Peru, and on Tuesday against La Selecta, after having recently undergone an operation to treat groin pain, according to a member of the South Korean federation told the Yonhap agency.
According to the source, Son underwent surgery on May 28 and traveled to South Korea two days later.
“About two weeks have passed and he is concentrating on his recovery,” said the representative of the Korea Football Association (KFA).
“We are going to have to wait and see if he will be available on Friday. The coach (Jurgen Klinsmann) is going to have to make a decision because Son really wants to play,” he added.
South Korea faces Peru this coming June 16 at 8:00 p.m. local time (11:00 GMT) in the port city of Busan (325 kilometers southeast of Seoul).
Klinsmann’s men will face off four days later with El Salvador in another friendly that will be played in Daejeon (140 kilometers south of Seoul).
