ABU DHABI, 13th June, 2019 (WAM) — Today, “&e” announced the successful conclusion of its first-of-its-kind “Women in Leadership” programme, in partnership with Nokia International, and with the support of the United Nations Women’s Agency, which confirms its commitment to promoting gender equality at work, empowering women and encouraging practices sustainable business.
The program comes as part of the framework of cooperation between Nokia and the United Nations Women’s Organization. The closing event of the training program, which was held at the &e Open Innovation Center in the Emirate of Dubai, is a special event, as it is the first of its kind held by Nokia at the end of its training program in the Middle East. Between 20 participants and 14 guest speakers enriched this event through panel discussions and presentations.
And e&e developed the Women in Leadership program specifically to enhance the presence of women in decision-making positions, especially in the technology sector, and to apply a balanced approach and gender equality to create innovative job opportunities, and to develop the latest technological solutions.
This program is in line with the United Nations principles for women’s empowerment, to which &e and Nokia have recently signed a commitment, with the aim of empowering women to exercise leadership roles and contribute to creating a better future for all.
On this occasion, Dina Al-Mansoori, Chief Human Resources Officer at &e, said: Today we celebrate the success of our “Women in Leadership” program, which was launched by &e over the past year, in cooperation with Nokia and UN Women, to affirm our firm belief in the importance of achieving inclusiveness and diversity to contribute to achieving The required change, as the participants in the program presented many wonderful ideas and inspiring solutions that enhance our confidence in their ability to make a positive impact in society.. These efforts come within the framework of our keenness to actively participate and build bridges of communication to support the presence of women in the technology sector, which has become an ideal opportunity to support Women and strengthening their leadership roles.
The program included four main challenges related to diversity in the work environment in the information and communication technology sector over the course of six months, aimed at providing environmentally friendly solutions in the UAE, ensuring data transparency, managing energy consumption for e&e subscribers, and addressing the challenges faced by women in the sector technology.
For her part, Rima Manna, Vice President for the Middle East at Nokia, said: We are delighted to be holding the first face-to-face closing event in the Middle East with &e and UN Women, to showcase the ideas generated by these exceptional women. Throughout the programme, participants not only embraced challenges related to sustainability and women’s empowerment, but also demonstrated an impressive ability to collaborate, innovate and think critically, leaving a lasting mark of excellence.
The content of the program supports participants to choose their challenges that focus on ESG corporate environmental and social governance standards, adopt the concepts of inclusiveness and diversity, cooperation to meet challenges, and create innovative business opportunities. The winners presented innovative concepts and models, according to which they received well-deserved recognition for their brilliant ideas during the closing events of the programme.
