ASPTT Draguignan Tennis Section Prepares for Big Summer Tournament

Small detour to the Georges-Sénéquier complex, temple of the ASPTT Draguignan tennis section, where we are busy with the final preparations for the organization of the big summer tournament which will take place from June 14 to July 2. The opportunity to make a first focus on the event with Jérémy Garcia, club monitor and referee of the event.

Fifteen days of gala where the regional faithful of the stage will meet. In fact, registrations (1) are going well. We are already approaching some 160 participants. I will have by my side to support me at the level of the arbitration judge Philippe Pré and Charlotte Garcia. The tournament is open up to the 5/6 ranking with the traditional senior tables (men and women), + 45 years old (men), the 3 doubles (mixed, men, women) as well as the consoling and the end tables..

Attractive trays

The 2023 edition promises to be a very good vintage with already applications that challenge in the two main tables. And in particular a contingent of second series among men where we will retain Tom Allouche (5/6), Martin Ducatez (5/6), Mathieu Moriot (5/6), Guillaume Frey (5/6), Raphaël Natier ( 15) or even Teddy Pascal (15).

What beautiful people for the final stages which should keep all their promises. Among the women, it’s not bad either with the presence of Zoé Peralta ranked (15) or Valérie Mattei (15/2). Of course, the locals will also have good cards to play, especially in the different tables.

Show guaranteed on the courts (indoor fallback possible depending on the vagaries of the weather) and atmosphere guaranteed every evening with themed entertainment that will enhance the fortnight.

On your tablets

And then, it should be noted from now on that Jérémy Garcia offers courses throughout the summer from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for young people (tennis, swimming pool) as well as for adults from 7 to 8:30 p.m. (initiation, leisure, competition) with at menu of tactical and technical situations, oppositions in singles and doubles.

A second youth tournament will take place on these same courts of the Georges-Sénéquier complex from July 29 to August 6 under the leadership of Jérémy Garcia. An event open to categories from 11 to 18 years old.

Classes (tennis school, competition) will resume on September 4. Among the new features for the start of the school year, a partnership with the Sainte-Marthe college with a class with flexible hours on Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m.

More than ever, summer promises to be hot on the side of the ASPTT Draguignan.

The women of the ASPTT Draguignan will evolve next season in Regional 2.

The Draguignan ASPTT in numbers

With 160 members, the tennis section of the ASPTT Draguignan chaired by Thierry Poulain is doing well despite the competition, particularly in terms of reception facilities. The club remains family and friendly which has been its charm for many years.

The tennis and competition school welcomes some 80 youngsters, which is rather very good on three courts. The club has already organized a youth tournament at Christmas which has been a great success. As well as several multi-chance tournaments.

The ASPTT has entered many more teams in championships in the youth categories. Among the adults, the palm went to the women who reached Regional 2 at the cost of a superb course. The opportunity to greet Solange Emdidof (5/6), Valérie Mattei (15/2), Prisca Teow-Chavey (15/3), Nadia Mairesse (15/5) and Stéphanie Cervetti (30).

Less happy, the men’s pennant team is relegated from Regional 3 to the departmental level. A group which, without a doubt, will want to bounce back next season and regain its status.

Finally, the departmental teams have on the whole behaved very well with the integration of budding young talents who are already knocking on the door.
