The 45th Veterans’ Conference of the Canton Schwyz Music Veterans’ Association was held under the motto “Music unites, whether young or not so young”.

After a small parade, the music association Galgenen, under the direction of Reto Walker, opened the 45th Veterans’ Conference of the Music Veterans’ Association of Canton Schwyz in the multi-purpose hall with music. OKP Armin Schmid then warmly welcomed all veterans and especially those who can be honored for their many years of music-making today, flag delegations and guests. In a worthy celebration, Vice President Ruth Donner commemorated the deceased music veterans, supplemented with a choral performance performed by the Musikverein Galgenen as the host association. President Meinrad Kälin (Feusisberg) then touched on the events and activities since the last annual conference. The new board consists of: President Meinrad Kälin, Feusisberg; Vice President Ruth Donner, also responsible for the homepage; Actuary Guido Heinzer, Greppen; Treasurer Bernhard Holdener, Oberiberg; Chairman MVV Martin Schuler, Rothenthurm; Ensign Remo Abegg, Oberägeri; 1. Auditor Monika Germann, Wangen; 2. Auditor Cecile Camenzind, Gersau.

Greetings Education director and government councilor Michael Stähli gave a patriotic speech, in particular about the emergence of the Schwyz state with the inclusion of the ensign of the seven upright ones, a novella by the Swiss poet Gottfried Keller. He sometimes describes the deserving veterans of the association in Canton Schwyz as the backbone of our society. Richard Mörgeli, President of the Schwyz Cantonal Music Association, gave a preview of upcoming activities.

Albin Hösli brought greetings from the Veterans’ Association of the Glarner Brass Band Association.

Mayor René Häberli considered himself lucky to be able to have music formations such as BOS and JMS in the region, which are well-known beyond the national borders. Both corps make a valuable contribution to maintaining musical values ​​and young musicians.

The veterans’ honor can be described as the absolute highlight of the 45th Veterans’ Conference of the Canton Schwyz Music Veterans’ Association. Alex Zimmermann from the Schwyz Cantonal Music Association presented Josef Marty (Musikgesellschaft Steinerberg) with the award as Swiss Honorary Veteran for his 70 years of activity. Also noteworthy is the 60-year musical work of Hildy Schuler (Feldmusik Gersau), who is the only woman in the canton of Schwyz to be recognized as a CISM veteran. The other deserved and distinguished musicians can be seen in the list.

The next regular annual conference in 2024 will take place in Altendorf.
