Russia’s Admiral Nakhimov Nuclear-Powered Warship Equipped with Zircon Missile to Return in 2024

Nuclear powered warship owned by Russia, Admiral Nakhimov, which has been modernized and repaired will be back in service in 2024. The Moscow battleship will be equipped Zircon hypersonic missile after undergoing trials in September this year.

As reported ReutersTuesday (13/6/2023), reports from Russian news agencies, TASSmention Admiral Nakhimov’s battleship which is a type of missile-equipped and nuclear-powered cruiser that has undergone repairs and adjustments to be able to carry long-range high-precision weaponry.

Repairs to the warship were carried out at the Sevmash shipyard.



“The cruiser Admiral Nakhimov will undergo sea trials this September after repairs and upgrades at the shipyard,” a source close to the Russian Navy told reporters. TASS.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement at the end of May that the warship would support Russia’s Northern Fleet operating in the Arctic region.

According to reports TASSthe Admiral Nakhimov warship will return to service with the Russian Navy at the end of 2024.

Separately, state media reports RIA Novosti said the warships will be armed with Zircon hypersonic anti-ship missiles, which are a new generation of weapons that together with the Avangard hypersonic glide vehicle form the center of Russia’s hypersonic arsenal.
