Ex-Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard could apparently follow Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema to Saudi Arabia. A video already shows him at the potential club.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema are already there. Now the two football superstars will probably be followed by the first prominent coach from Europe to Saudi Arabia.
According to consistent media reports, the Al-Ettifaq club wants to lure former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard (43) into the desert.
A video showing Gerrard in front of the club’s training center is already circulating on social networks. It shows the former England international getting out of a limousine in front of the office and walking towards the door.
As the French journalist Romain Molina reports, Gerrard is said to have been in Saudi Arabia for a while to negotiate a possible engagement as a coach.
Al-Ettifaq’s aim should also be to attract other top international stars to the club by signing Gerrard. Cristiano Ronaldo (38) has been with Al-Nassr since the beginning of the year, Benzema (35) is now moving to Al-Ittihad.
Gerrard coached the Rangers
Gerrard coached Glasgow Rangers in Europe from 2018 to 2021. In his second season, he won the Scottish Championship with Rangers without losing a single game. It was the first championship title in ten years.
He then moved to Aston Villa in November 2021, but was fired in October 2022 after a disappointing start to the league. Since then he has been without a club. However, that could soon change.
