Game development is not exactly a fast thing. Todd Howard is well aware of this, which is supposed to be the reason why Elder Scrolls 6 may be the very last game the famous creator works on. The pace of game development at Bethesda takes many years, which is criticized by some, but at least according to Howard it is important to give games time. He himself compares the time delays for titles from Bethesda workshops to the work of Rockstar, which also has large time gaps between games and the negative impact on the series is practically zero.
Of course, Howard would like development to be faster, but according to him, speeding up at the cost of quality is not the right way to go. The studio wants to support its new games more, so the lifespan of Starfield should be significantly longer than in the case of previous Bethesda projects. He himself doesn’t count too much on the fact that he would succeed in working on the development of Elder Scrolls 7. According to him, his journey may end for Elder Scrolls 6. However, it is possible that development will be fast and we will see Howard’s name on other projects.
As for the expected RPG Elder Scrolls 6, it seems to be quite far away, so we don’t even have a theoretical date. Therefore, it is not completely excluded that the game will skip the current generation of consoles and become a reality only on the next one. However, it is only speculation, it is possible that the development will not take that long, since the announcement was made some Friday ago.
Who remembers when Todd Howard first announced Elder Scrolls 6 during E3 2018 5 years ago today? 🥲 pic.twitter.com/fuHbKDuNwu
