They used slabs from graves to rebuild a road in Kalamata and there was an uproar

“Fires” were ignited by the social media post of Vassilis Kanakis, the city councilor of the main opposition party of the Municipality of Kalamata, who depicted marbles… from slabs to graves in a cemetery, ready to be used for the reconstruction that is taking place on Navarinou Street, from Faron Street to the Akrita.

As ERT reports, the post went “viral” in a very short time, while on Sunday night we also had the reaction of the mayor of Kalamata, Thanasis Vassilopoulos, who posted on social media and noted:

“I have already instructed the Directorate of Technical Services of the Municipality to stop the Redevelopment project on Navarinou Street and to call the contractor and the supervising engineer to give explanations about the marble slabs.

A sample check will be carried out immediately on the section that has already been constructed.

It is clear that all due process will be followed and sanctions will be imposed.”
