We continue the marathon of game presentations in the framework of “non-E3”, as Ubisoft’s presentation came next. We have already received some announcements and news from this studio at previous events, and today we should have learned more about some of these titles, namely the new Prince of Persia or the new Star Wars. Of course, there were also regulars in the form of Assassin’s Creed and, of course, other expected titles. So what did we expect during Ubisoft Forward?
Star Wars Outlaws
Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws was unveiled yesterday during the Xbox Games Showcase, so we didn’t have to wait long for more details. And it was definitely very nourishing, as we received a ten-minute gameplay that definitely beckoned for another adventure in a galaxy far, far away. And that straight open to a galaxy far, far away, because Outlaws is the first Star Wars title with an open world. As we already learned with the announcement of the game, the story takes place between episodes V and VI and the heroine is Kay Vess, played by actress Humberly González. Now, however, we are also getting to know her cute alien-animal companion named Nix. However, he is not the only one a pet, because his company pays off many times over, as we can see for ourselves in the demo. In addition to distracting enemies, it can also help with finding items and solving puzzles. It can be seen that not everything needs to be solved immediately by force, as there will also be opportunities for negotiation. However, if everything fails, we will of course not avoid a clash. The fight will not always have to be action-packed, chaotic and confusing, as we will also be able to rely on a stealth approach and silent elimination of enemies, and a hook will also help us move, with which we can quickly move from place to place. Speaking of movement, it is a pleasant surprise to discover that in the game we will sit in the seat of the pilot and not only fly through the ship, but also engage in other clashes with them. The game will be released next year and is headed for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. You can already find more about the game in our archive.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
After the introduction dedicated to Just Dance, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora came next, from which we finally not only saw more, including the promised gameplay footage, but we also got the release date. This has been set for December 7, 2023, when the game will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. Film director James Cameron himself sent his greetings during the presentation of the game, whose production company collaborated on the game so that the audiovisual side of the game corresponded to his vision and film form. The game is an action-adventure game from the first-person perspective, but the news is the announcement of cooperation support, as we will be able to share our adventure on Pandora online with another player. In the skin of the Na’vi, in addition to exploring an unknown part of the planet, we will also engage in combat, in which military training obtained from humans will help us. The game will even be released with Czech localization in the form of subtitles.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage
Already the trailer presented during the PlayStation Showcase raised hopes among fans and players that the game really returns to the roots of the series, which the developers from Ubisoft try to confirm repeatedly. Today they gave us a new story trailer focusing on the order and Basim himself, which was nevertheless followed by a nearly eight-minute gameplay trailer. It focused on most aspects of the gameplay to further emphasize the return to older and smaller games, and it was not edited, so I could get a clearer idea of what to expect. Parkour, a large number of buildings and climbing, killing from above, hiding from guards and stealth in general, all kinds of assassin conveniences… However, if you would prefer to watch the gameplay with commentary from the developers, you have the option, as a commented version of the presented video appeared later. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is released on October 12, 2023 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, but unfortunately again without Czech subtitles.
Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR
If you’ve ever dreamed of becoming an assassin, you can soon try it out in slightly safer conditions in virtual reality. The VR title Assassin’s Creed Nexus is not new and we have known about it for many years, besides it has been the subject of several leaks. We take on three iconic characters from the series, which are Ezio Auditore, Connor Kenway and Kassandra. In their shoes, we will be able to discover stories that have not yet been told, and, of course, a whole series of eliminations await us. Unfortunately, we only saw pre-rendered footage and not direct gameplay, but according to the published video, the game should be controlled with exact movements copying those of the assassin. Undoubtedly, it will be interesting to see what the iconic leap of faith will be like in VR, which will also not be missing. Assassin’s Creed Nexus will be released on Meta Quest 2 and 3, and should be available around Christmas 2023.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
During Ubisoft Forward, there was also the promised presentation of the new Prince of Persia with the subtitle The Lost Crown. We learned more about the story and the ways in which the developers from Ubisoft Montpellier want to please not-so-convinced players. Everything should start with the kidnapping of Prince Ghassan, after which you and a group of other comrades will begin a search. The journey takes you to Mount Qaf, home to the god of time – the Simurgh – who is, however, cursed with an unspecified curse. The past and the present are intertwined in one time, which the inhabitants of the mountain are unable to cope with and turn into bloodthirsty monsters. Players in the shoes of Sargon, the youngest of the Immortals strike force, will eventually have to save the lost prince themselves and get to the bottom of all the mysteries. We saw a whole host of sequences straight from the game, including interesting attacks, combos, jumps and a handful of platforming moments, but they pale in comparison to the action ones. However, the ability to control the flow of time also comes into play, although we will not have it directly under our own control. The game should be open and varied enough in terms of progression, with the ability to customize Sargon’s abilities and change his gear. A preview event for selected journalists was also held recently, so it is likely that in the coming days, new gameplay footage will appear, as well as additional insights from the first players. The game releases on January 18, 2024 on PC, Switch, and both generations of Xbox and PlayStation.
Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade
Another assassin’s title, Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade, made a brief appearance in collaboration with Level Infinite studio, a division of Tencent. We have already had the honor of him several times thanks to leaked footage. Jade is a free to play mobile title that takes us back to China after Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, but this time to 2015 BC. This means that in the Qin Dynasty period and from the point of view of the canon of the series, we find ourselves between the works of Origins and Odyssey. The hero is Sia, with whom we will explore the country including its sights such as the Great Wall of China. However, for the very first time, we will have the opportunity to customize our character from the ground up in our own image. The development should have made a lot of progress since last year’s introduction, and these days the technical alpha on iOS was finished. That’s why today Ubisoft started pre-registration for the public test – you can register right here.
The Crew Motorfest
The Crew Motorfest Races will be released on September 14, Ubisoft announced. The game will arrive on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series. By pre-ordering the gold and ultimate editions, you can get to the game three days earlier. As we’ve known for some time now, we will travel to the Hawaiian island of Oahu, visit the city of Honolulu, ride in the mountains, rainforests and beaches. The authors promise hundreds of cars and various experiences in the form of special playlists. In them, we will try American muscle karts, Japanese night races, but also classics of the past. And it may also come down to a formula. At launch, the game will offer over 610 machines, and players of The Crew 2 will be able to import their collection into the new installment. After the insider program so far, it will be possible to try the unfinished game in a closed beta from July 21 to 23 on PC and new consoles. It will even be possible to stream the title. But you have to log in on the official website in time.
Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix
I’ve heard about a new animated series inspired by Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon in the past. Now we have seen the first sample of it. Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix will be released this fall and will be available on Netflix. Adi Shankar, signed under the successful Castlevania anime, is working on the project. It’s supposed to be a love letter to the nineties, which began to be born seven long years ago. The game is to use a whole range of characters from the worlds of Ubisoft. The story is set in an alternate reality and the year 1992.
Skull & Bones
If you were hoping that Ubisoft would “move” a bit with Skull & Bones, you waited in vain. The company hinted between the lines a few weeks ago that the game is definitely not ready for release, and this state probably continues. Paradoxically, the HomeFreeGuys music insert had the opposite effect than the French publisher had hoped for, and underlined that there is still something wrong with the game. Instead of footage, news or any information, the players received a song. And not a very good one…
XDefiant
Ubisoft has announced the next round of the XDefiant shooter free to play open beta, which will take place from June 21 to 23 on all supported platforms, i.e. PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. At the same time, he praised the responses and feedback from players and the community as a whole. Also mentioned was the planned roadmap for the first year after release, within which four new factions, new maps and weapons will be added to the game later, resulting in a new map appearing in the game every month.
The Division Resurgence
The mobile entry to the popular series Tom Clancy’s The Division was also shown. Resurgence is supposed to offer the great gameplay we’re used to from the classic games, and it also boasts good-looking graphics. Free to play Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence was only properly introduced last year, but it has already managed to be tested among players. In addition, we will see its release already in the fall, but the exact date has not yet been announced.
Just Dance 2024
What kind of Ubisoft presentation would it be if the long-running Just Dance series didn’t even get its space. The players could watch a dance performance right from the beginning, which heralded the announcement of the release date of the latest edition. Just Dance 2024 will be released on PS5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch on October 24th, and it already comes with the first batch of confirmed sogns. They will be Flowers by Miley Cyrus, How You Like That by Blackpink, I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston or Sail by Awolnation. There should be over 40 of them in total, and Ubisoft also made a point to remind that the Just Dance series has become another game in the list of titles played during The Olympic Esports Series.
