Gigabyte has announced an updated version of its RTX 4090 Windforce GPU: the V2 24G. The updated model retains the same specifications, but the 12Vhpwr connector is located on the side of the video card behind the fans, at the end of the circuit board.
The V2 variant is just as long as the original, but roughly 2.5 centimeters less high and 2.5 centimeters less thick thanks to a new cooling system. In addition, the housing of the cooler has a notch behind the fans, so that the power connector is not on the top of the video card, but on the back and side. In this way, the 12Vhpwr cable does not have to have sharp corners, which can prevent incorrectly connected plugs from damaging the connector, which caused a stir late last year. Tweakers wrote a background story about this controversial power supply cable.
According to VideoCardz the Gigabyte RTX 4090 Windforce V2 24G was released without major announcement in select markets, including China. As far as we know, the video card is not yet available in the Benelux. It is also not clear what the European suggested retail price of the card will be. The original RTX 4090 Windforce 24G has been available since October 2022 for a suggested retail price of roughly 2100 euros.
