Wild boar rescued from swimming pool near Berlin

The wild boar had to stay in the pool for at least 1.5 hours before it could be rescued.

A wild boar jumped into a pool near Berlin, whereupon the fire brigade and police arrived.

Rescue operation lasted 1.5 hours

A wild boar in a swimming pool on private property in Neuenhagen near Berlin has called the police and fire brigade into action. Local residents discovered the animal in the pool on Saturday morning, police said on Sunday. The wild boar, which weighs around 40 to 50 kilos, apparently wanted to cool off, but could no longer get out of the pool on its own. Local residents and the fire brigade let more water into the swimming pool and then got the animal out with a ladder and a sling.

The responsible hunting authority has been informed. The wild boar looked very exhausted after being rescued, took a short break and then fled in the direction of the forest, said a police spokesman. The rescue operation lasted about an hour and a half. “We didn’t know that a wild boar could swim so long,” the spokesman said.
